Health Bill: A902 (Weprin) – 0n 1/8/2014 moved to governmental employees committee in the assembly. All of the support memos from last year are good for the 2014 legislative session.
This bill would prohibit state and local governments from diminishing the health insurancebenefits of retirees below the level of benefits that are in place 30 days after this act shall become law.
Vets Bill: A7479: COLA Bill: Assemblyman Benedetto – on 1/8/2014 moved to the governmental employees committee. Vets Bill: S6820: COLA Bill: Senator Larkin – on 3/13/2014 moved to civil service and pensions committee. This bill intends to provide veterans who have retired from public service in the state with a veterans pension benefit similar to that which active veteran public employees are entitled to receive since 2000. Provide a supplemental military allowance equal to .25% for each month of military service of such person, to a maximum of 36 months based on $15,000. i.e.: 1 year = 3%, 2 years = 6% and 3 years = 9% X $15,000. = $1350. Vets Bill: A6974a: Assemblywoman Paulin – moved on 2/26/2014 to assembly governmental employees committee. Vets Bill: S4714a: Senator Larkin – on 2/26/2014 moved to Senate Finance committee.
This bill will extend to the Veterans Service Credit Law of 2000 to all veterans who have served in the military. No restrictions on when you served.
COLA Bill: S6785: Senator Golden – moved on 3/11/2014 to senate civil service & pension committee. This bill would provide cost-of-living adjustment.
